Dr. Gabriel Rodríguez-Calero received a BS in Chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico – Rio Piedras, and his PhD in Chemistry from Cornell University. He has conducted research and development in material science and energy systems for over ten years. Dr. Rodríguez-Calero has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and is an inventor on several patent applications. His lab research helped shape Ecolectro’s technology, and he still stays active with research while building and leading the company.
KRISTINA HUGAR, PHD

Dr. Kristina M. Hugar, graduated from Cornell University in Organic Synthesis and Polymer Design for Electrochemical Systems. At Ecolectro, Dr. Hugar serves as the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO), where she manages the technical team, oversees R&D efforts and product design, leads growth, and facilitates technical support for commercial relationships. An expert in alkaline exchange membranes, she has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications that are directly related to the core technology of the company.

Jasmine is the Director of Treats. She is a good girl who brings smiles to the Ecolectro office daily and loves a good head scratch.
CHRISTOPHER SIMONEAU, PHD
IP MANAGER & PROCESS CHEMICAL LEAD
Christopher Simoneau received his BS in Chemistry from Providence College and his Doctorate in Organic Chemistry from Cornell University. At Ecolectro, Mr. Simoneau oversees the management of Ecolectro’s intellectual property and leads the process development effort towards scalable and cost-effective monomer and polymer AEM products.
Amy Parker received a BS in Physics from Ithaca College with expertise in material science for superconductors, engineering solar cells, and mass spectrometry engineering. At Ecolectro, Ms. Parker is a Research Engineer focused on electrode engineering, production and optimization of electrodes, reducing electrode cost using non-precious metals, optimization of electrolyzer performance, and membrane-based alkaline water electrolysis.
EVELYN JOHNSON, PHD
R&D POLYMER CHEMIST
Evelyn received a BS in Chemistry from California Lutheran University in 2016, a MS in Polymer Chemistry from Cornell University in 2018, and a PhD in Polymer Chemistry from Cornell University in 2021. At Ecolectro, Ms. Johnson is a R&D Polymer Chemist with a focus on safety.
Nick Von stein
Nick graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cornell University with a BA in Chemistry. As part of the R&D Electrochemistry Team, he is an innovator in the area of electrode materials design and production.
SUBARNA KOLE, PHD
SENIOR RESEARCH SCIENTIST
Dr. Subarna Kole received a BS in chemical engineering from National Institute of Technology, Raipur, India, and her PhD in chemical engineering from Louisiana State University. Her research area focused on the synthesis and application of polymeric materials for membrane based electrochemical devices. At Ecolectro, Dr. Kole is a Senior Research Scientist, working on developing reinforced anion exchange membranes for water electrolyzers and fuel cells.
MARIO RAMOS-GARCÉS, PHD

Dr. Mario Ramos-Garcés received his BS and PhD in chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras. After his PhD, he was a postdoctoral scholar at Penn State’s department of chemical engineering. At Ecolectro, Dr. Ramos-Garcés is a Senior Research Engineer focused on electrode development.
ADAM DANNENHOFFER, PHD

Dr. Adam Dannenhoffer earned his BS in Chemistry from Canisius College and a doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering at Northwestern University. His graduate work focused on the design and synthesis of artificial photosynthetic materials for clean hydrogen generation. At Ecolectro, Dr. Dannenhoffer serves as the Director of R&D – Materials and brings his passion for renewable technologies to support Ecolectro’s cutting edge products.

LEAD STACK ENGINEER
Scott Fackler earned his BS in physics with a minor in mathematics from Penn State in 2011 and his masters in teaching from the University of Delaware in 2012. Mr. Fackler has 7+ years of experience developing electrochemical hydrogen compressor stacks for use in heat pumps, hydrogen storage, and hydrogen purification. At Ecolectro, Mr. Fackler is the Lead Stack Engineer, specializing in stack design and data acquisition.

James Cooper brings 25+ years experience as a Mechanical & Electrical Technician, as well as 8+ years as Master Industrial Electrician. He specializes in systems customizations & controls upgrading and installation. He serves as a pivotal member of our R&D Systems Team.

SENIOR RESEARCH SCIENTIST
Dr. Gabriel J. Reyes-Rodríguez (Gaby) earned his BS in Chemistry from University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras and his PhD from University of California, San Diego. He has pursued postdoctoral studies at Cornell University and Aarhus University (Denmark), and was an Organic Chemistry Instructor at Nova Southeastern University. Gaby is a highly motivated chemist, who brings innovative ways of thinking and resolving challenges due to his unique background in mechanistic organic chemistry. His varied background gives him the ability to approach problems from multiple angles and to communicate between teams of scientists from diverse backgrounds. Gaby joins Ecolectro as a Senior Research Scientist with a focus on organic chemistry, reaction processes and product development.
DATA & ECONOMIC SPECIALIST
Jimena holds a Bachelor of International Economics from The University of British Columbia and is currently pursuing an MS in Computer Science and Public Policy at the University of Chicago. Before graduate school, Jimena worked as a data analyst, helping optimize conservation and electrification programs in British Columbia, Canada. Jimena joins Ecolectro this summer as a Sr Data & Economic Analyst. Outside of work, Jimena can be found cycling or practicing open-water swimming.
Sanduni brings seven years of chemistry and electrochemistry experience, and a true passion for green hydrogen and water electrolysis. She holds a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering specializing in Electrochemistry from Case Western Reserve University, and a Bachelor of Science (Hon) in Chemistry from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. Sanduni joins the Electrochemistry team as a Research Scientist.
JIMMY JOHN, PHD
DIRECTOR OF R&D, ELECTROCHEMISTRY
Dr. Jimmy John is driven by the core value of sustainability and most excited about creating value at the intersection of society, science, and business. As Director, R&D Electrochemistry, he’ll bridge the gap between material-selection and electrolyzer performance. He brings to this role, 6+ years of industrial R&D experience with stints at both The Dow Chemical Company and DuPont, as well as 9 years academic research focused on energy conversion in electrochemical interfaces. Jimmy has a MS degree in Chemistry from IIT Kanpur, India, a PhD in Chemistry from Cornell University, an MBA from Emory University and was a postdoctoral fellow at Caltech.

Elisabeth earned her B.S. in chemistry (Caltech ’21) and M.S. in inorganic chemistry (Yale ’23). She has a range of research experiences in organic and inorganic synthesis, molecular electrochemistry, and spectroscopy. Elisabeth is a part of the R&D Organic Synthesis and Materials team.
